Programs for Teens at Sparrow Lake Camp
Special Programs Just for Teens
For Campers in turning 16 in the camp calendar year.
Designed in collaboration with our older campers, the updated L.I.T. program focuses on discovering your strengths and learning how to apply them in the world. We recognize that everyone has something unique to offer, but making a real impact takes more than just good ideas.
With a ‘Back to Basics’ approach to leadership, you’ll gain skills to lead in your own life, no matter where your journey takes you. While you’ll practice leadership in a camp setting, everything you learn—about yourself and others—can be applied far beyond camp.
By starting with self-awareness, you’ll discover your unique strengths and build confidence. You’ll learn how to create strong teams and understand the different forms of leadership. And with the ability to solve problems and adapt when needed, you’ll be ready to face whatever life throws at you.
The best part? Camp is already the perfect environment to learn these skills! You won’t need classroom lessons or presentations—this is all part of a fun, active, and unforgettable experience you’ll love.
You’ll also have the chance to learn advanced camp skills like sailing, lifesaving, and leadership, or focus on another area that interests you. Each experience is tailored to you.
Throughout the program, you’ll debrief with the group, solve problems together, and create positive experiences for the entire camp. After completing the L.I.T. program, you’ll be ready for the next chapter—whether as a Junior Staff-in-Training at Sparrow Lake Camp or beyond.

For L.I.T.s looking to become staff members at Sparrow Lake Camp in the future, we highly recommend getting some on-hands experience during L.I.T. Volunteer Week in August. While not mandatory, the week will give you a good look at what it’s like to be a staff member at camp. Each Year L.I.T. volunteers take on a unique project which gives back to the SLC community. Clearing trails, painting, building a garden, leading a special program, the possibilities are almost endless. Participants will spend 40 hours volunteering, and are eligible to receive school credit for the program.
