Programs for Teens at Sparrow Lake Camp

Special Programs Just for Teens

For Campers in turning 16 in the camp calendar year.

Specially designed in collaboration with our older campers, our updated L.I.T. program is all about discovering your strengths, and what it means to bring those to the world. We recognize that you have something unique to offer — as does every person on this planet we share — but it takes more than just nice ideas to make your mark in the world.

With a ‘Back to Basics’ approach to leadership, you’ll learn skills that will help you be a leader in your own life - wherever your journey takes you. While you’ll certainly have the opportunity to practice leadership in a camp setting; you’ll also find that everything you learn - about yourself, and others - can be taken into your life far beyond camp.

By starting with you, and discovering your unique strengths, you’ll gain critical self-awareness that will help you move forward.

By learning to build bridges with others, you’ll understand what builds strong teams of any size.

By learning how we all influence others, you’ll see that leadership can come in many different forms.

With the confidence to solve problems, and the humility to know when to change tactics, leaders are able to adapt and overcome whatever life might throw at them.

The best part of all of this is that it’s already what camp’s all about! We don’t need to have classroom lessons, or watch presentations to learn any of this. It’s all part of a fun, active, and memorable camp program that you’re going to love!

You’ll have a chance to learn camp skills, like advanced sailing, lifesaving, group leadership, or higher-level skills in another area of camp. Each experience is unique to you.

You’ll also have the opportunity to debrief and share your ideas with the group. You’ll solve problems together, and create positive experiences for the rest of the camp as well.

After the L.I.T. program, you’ll be more prepared to move into the next chapter of your life, either as a Junior Staff in-training at Sparrow Lake Camp, or elsewhere.

Clearing trails, painting, building a garden, leading a special program, the possibilities are almost endless.
