FABULOUS FOOD!

WE LOVE TO EAT!

Camp food has changed a lot over the years. Our focus is to keep making it better!

Of course, camp food needs to be ‘kid freindly’ which is what guides us in the creation of our camp menu each season. Each meal also provides options for kids so we can be sure they’ll find something they like - and something nutritious as well!

Vegan, Halal, Kosher-Style, Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free, & other dietary needs - by request.

We want everyone to love our food! By letting us know your child’s needs on their registration forms, we can ensure that we are able to provide yummy alternatives. We also inform campers as to whether or not each meal meets their dietary needs.

Our menu is designed to have similar items as dietary alternatives, and to make it easy to accommodate kids. For instance fruit sorbet substitutes ice cream, vegan chilli replaces turkey chilli, and so on. Every meal has a substitution already planned to accommodate most needs.

If you or your child have questions, our kitchen staff are more than happy to answer!

Allergies

It is VITAL that you inform us of all food allergies on your child’s medical form. This information is passed on to our kitchen staff. Please be sure to also note the severity of the allergy. We work to avoid most common allergens in our meals, and in some cases can remove certain items from all food to be sure they are not available. We will reach out to you if we have questions or concerns, but please don’t hesitate to contact our office if you would like to speak with our cook or nurse about your child’s needs.

Sparrow Lake Camp is not deemed a “nut-free” camp, we are nut-sensitive and do our best to keep all traces out of the camp environment. We ask that you DO NOT send any food items to camp that may contain nuts and/or nut products including dairy substitutes.

Complex Needs

Should your child have multiple allergies or complex dietary needs, we may need to ask that you send along additional supplementary snacks or food. We review all dietary needs, and will reach out if we have questions, but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns.
