ALL Sparrow Lake campers and staff eat in the dining for three meals each day with the exception of out-trips, cookouts, and BBQ's. Sparrow Lake Camp is happy to work with parents/guardians of both campers and staff who have alternate dietary requirements.
INFORMATION REGARDING ALTERNATE DIETS
For individuals with an anaphylaxis allergy (other than nuts) of a frequently served food item or Celiac disease, you must alert the camp at least two weeks prior so we can make proper arrangements. In some cases, it may be determined that in the interest of the person’s health and safety, meals are prepared at home (following the instructions below).
If an individual’s food allergies or dietary needs require the purchase of special food items not part of SLC’s general stock, they must be supplied by the individual. Additional items brought to camp will be properly stored in the kitchen with your individual’s name clearly labeled on the food item. Meals prepared ahead of time will be stored in the kitchen fridge/freezer and labeled with the meal they are intended to replace (example: Tuesday Lunch – Steve Smith).
Sparrow Lake Camp is not deemed a “nut-free” camp, we are nut-sensitive and do our best to keep all traces out of the camp environment. We ask that you DO NOT send any food items to camp that may contain nuts and/or nut products including dairy substitutes.
SLCProvided: TVP (textured vegetable protein), tofu, veggie dogs, veggie burgers, beans, lentils, hummus. Please note that most of our vegetarian pre-prepared protein products do contain gluten (ie tofu chicken strips, veggie dogs, ground round etc)
LACTOSE ALLERGIES/ INTOLERANCE:
SLC Provided: Soya milk, goat cheese, soya margarine Due to the varying degrees of intolerance, please speak to us in advance
GLUTEN INTOLERANCE /CELIAC DISEASE:
SLC Provided: Muffin mixes, rice pastas, and one kind of gluten-free breakfast cereal, pizza crust, corn chips, salad dressing, soup
Please note that freezies and stocked fruit will be served as an alternate dessert. It is recommended that individual provide their own desserts and snack
