This summer the staff team will be directed and supported by Barb Weeden, Sparrow Lake Camp's new Executive Director! Barb is beyond excited to have hired an amazing team to work with and is happy to announce that 49 out of the 55 staff have grown up at Sparrow Lake as campers! Many of these staff have graduated from the LIT and CIT leadership programs and a few have returned as adults to give back to the camp they call their second home! All other staff have been selected for their experience and expertise in a particular program area, kitchen, office or to help with our site and facility maintenance.
The staff team is made up of 55 enthusiastic, caring and child-centered staff.... Camp Counsellors, Program Area Resource Coordinators, a Program and Staff Manager, an Administrative Coordinator, LIT and CIT Coordinators, Food Service Manager, Site Manager and our Registered Nurse who lives on site for the summer. Our Associate Director Nick started working part-time in January, assisting Barb with camp planning and designing our new website! Behind the scenes is our Camp Registrar, Louise and our Business Manager, Judy who work part-time throughout the year managing our registration and business needs, and our dedicated Board of Directors are always there to lend a helping hand.
All the staff are selected for their love of camp and children! Each staff member must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification and provide camp with a Police Check. Our resource team is made up of Program Coordinators who facilitate learning and activities in their specific areas and also act as Cabin Mascots where they assist Counsellors with their cabin groups during special activities and evening cabin time. This group spends a week together training before the rest of the staff team arrives for an all camp staff camp week!
